“The Message of Jesus: Words that Changed the World” by Adam Hamilton

March 9 – The Kingdom of God has Come

Jesus’s first public message was brief and blunt. How does his urgent announcement of God’s reign matter to us and to the world two thousand years later?

March 16 – The World’s Most Important Sermon

“Sermon on the Mount” is, at one and the same time, among the most familiar passages of Scripture and the most challenging. How does this collection of Jesus’s teachings continue to provoke a vision of life in Jesus’s community?

March 23 – Jesus Spoke to them in Parables

A masterful storyteller, Jesus used brief fictional narratives to communicate God’s truth. How do some of his most familiar parables challenge preconceptions about being Christian today?

March 30 – Who Do YOU Say That I Am?

Jesus asks his followers, then and now, to confess their convictions about who he is and what he means. How do Jesus’s words about himself in the Gospel of John help us answer his questions today?

April 6 – Final Words

At his last supper with his disciples and from his cross, Jesus spoke words that have echoed through the church and world for two millenia. How does what Jesus said before his death shape our lives as his followers now?

April 13 – The Resurrection and the Life

Jesus taught about heaven and the next life. What makes his message on this subject relevant to life today and in the world to come?
